My GIAC GCIH Gold paper titled Infiniband Fabric and Userland Attacks is now up on the SANS website. Follows is the abstract:
For almost a decade InfiniBand Architecture (IBA) has become a networking choice
amongst the Top 500 High Performance Computing Clusters of the world because of the
lower cost, higher throughput, and lower latency which are better than Ethernet offerings.
Some of the historical Ethernet security issues, such as Media Access Control (MAC)
address spoofing, have been addressed in InfiniBand from the initial InfiniBand
specifications. While MAC address spoofing is not directly replicable in InfiniBand, it is
reinvented in this paper in the form of Global Unique ID (GUID) spoofing.
