#100DaysToOffload, day 14

The weekend is here and it has been a quiet morning to make progress on some to-do items.

Over the past few weeks I have been migrating off of M365 for domain hosting and office collaboration. With the last migration of contacts into NextCloud, and OneNotes into DevonThink, the migration is now complete.

While I am not opposed to M365, for a single user/admin to ensure proper administration of the instance, it is just too much work. With articles like https://techcrunch.com/2024/10/17/microsoft-said-it-lost-weeks-of-security-logs-for-its-customers-cloud-products/ reminding me of my own lack of monitoring of cloud logs/security, it is best for me to just close up shop on M365.

Today I am also removing the last bit of data from my Win 11 laptop. I’ve migrated all of the data to the NAS and any functionality to apps on MacOS. One last thing to do on the laptop before it is moved to the old computer pile is to try out a Linux distro on it. Oh, and need to ensure one last set of good backups in case I missed anything.

Next on the list is to finish installing a mastodon instance and get Security Onion up and running.
